The 4th Annual Southwest All-Stars Games, presented by SGFsoccer.com and Springfield Soccer Club, will be held Thursday June 19th, 2008 at the Cooper Soccer complex at Lake Country Soccer. There will be a Girls game at 6:00 pm and a Boys game at 8:00 pm.
The roster for the Girls Teams, high school seniors who will graduate in May 2008 and are completing their high school careers, is listed below. Formal invitations will be sent out to the players this week. There were over 70 girls nominate this year, 37 were chosen, representative of the strength of play and balance we saw in the region this year.

This year’s girl’s roster includes players representing 14 schools for the 37 players. The breakdown by school and class includes:
Class 1- five (5) players from three (3) schools
Class 2- thirty-two (32) players from eleven (11) schools
The roster is led by Katie Pritchard, Waynesville Tigers midfielder, 2007 Class 2 Southwest Region Offensive MVP and the new Class 2 career scoring leader in Missouri. The 2007 Class 2 Southwest Region MVP Chealsey Russell (Kickapoo Chiefs) and Defensive Player of the Year Kaitlin Bramel (Rolla Bulldogs) along with Class 1 MVP Tara Bailes and Defensive Player Anne Prenger of Springfield Catholic.
There are four goalkeepers invited this year.

The All-Star roster includes a pair of NCAA Division 1 players (Russell, Bailes) along with seven Division 2 players (Baker, Prenger, Opfer, Russell, Taylor, McLain, Ragains) and another eight headed for Division III or NAIA programs in the Midwest. More details will follow as 2008 honors are announced.

The game features the best graduating high school seniors in this region, as chosen by Steve Ole Olson of SGFsoccer.com and Jeremy Alumbaugh of Springfield SC. Nominations were sought from the coaches of all of the teams from the two classes that play soccer in the Southwest Missouri region.
The event is organized jointly by SGFsoccer.com, Southwest Missouri’s soccer resource, and Springfield Soccer Club, home to over 20 teams including the two time State Championship squad, the U17 boys.

This year’s boys roster includes players representing 17 girls teams (31 players). The breakdown by school and class includes:
• Class 1 – eleven (11) players from six (6) schools
• Class 2 – twenty (20) players from eleven (11) schools
Three of the players were recognized at the All-State level last year as juniors, Elle Holtman and Melissa Hogan in Class 1 and Whitney Hall in Class 2. Whitney was also chosen as Class 2 Defensive Player of the Year for the Southwest Region. Jessica Yach, Katie Rodriguez, Laura McElroy and Lauren Bettlach were also recognized in the Southwest Region poll. In Class 1, Melissa Hogan was Player of the Year, Christina Ogden was Goalkeeper of the year and they were joined by Alicia Tonjuk, Elle Holtman and Regina Bodine in the Southwest Region Poll.
Additional top field players include:
• Mindy Neal, four year starter at sweeper for the Glendale Falcons
• Lindsay Altman, four year starter at midfield for the Joplin Eagles and an MSSU signee
• Callie Collier and Kellie Lemen, four year starters for the Rolla Bulldogs and captains for the Class 2 Sectional qualifiers who play in Springfield against Kickapoo tomorrow

Ashley Wilson, Neosho Wildcats, has accepted her invitation and will participate in the 2nd Annual Southwest Soccer All-Stars game. Ashley has signed to play NCAA Division II soccer for Coach Ben Wade at Southwest Baptist University. Her other honors include:
Wilson is a four-year letter man at Neosho H.S. where she was a three-time all-District honorable mention selection. The past two years she has been the assists leader for NHS. A member of the National Honor Society she plans on majoring in physical therapy.
Ashley was coached by Brian Schibi at Neosho High School and is the daughter of Bud and Sandra Wilson. Welcome aboard!
